Models ran out in glow-in-the-dark pants and hoodies, as if they were on a mission. The mission was to be as attention grabbing as possible. The mission worked, because this was definitely Versace’s biggest spectacle in a long time.
The set was outer space themed and looked like something you’d associate with a sci-fi movie, and not a fashion show. The models walked out sporting everything from double breasted suits to metallic pants to knit sweaters and bomber jackets. The accessories were no small feat either with back packs in tow, card holders around lanyards on necks, and all while sunglasses were worn conspicuously.
If you think this was just the tip of the iceberg, it was. To say the Versace menswear Fall/Winter 2016 collection was over the top would be an understatement. The show was over the top, camp, “out there,” or whatever else one can call it. That being said, it was fun and entertaining. Which is what fashion should be.
There is enough doom and gloom in the world. We can always leave it to (Donatella) Versace to make things fun and sexy. After all that is what Versace is all about.
